Police are appealing for public assistance after reports of two separate incidents where a man allegedly impersonated an officer in Sydney’s west, which are believed to be linked.
The first incident occurred about 11pm on Saturday 17 January 2015, when a 32-year-old man was driving along Greendale Road, Bringelly.

Police have been told the man noticed a white Holden Commodore with a blue light flashing on the dash behind him and subsequently pulled over.
The driver of the Holden approached the man’s car and spoke to him, claiming he was a police officer, and showing him what is believed to be a fake police badge.
He asked the driver to undertake a roadside breath test using an alcolizer.
The man impersonating a police officer left the scene, taking the man’s driver’s licence, after telling the driver it had been suspended.
The man drove to his home and contacted police, who commenced investigations.

The second reported incident occurred between 1am and 1.30am, Sunday 18 January 2015, when a 49-year-old woman was driving along Athlone Street, Cecill Hills, with two passengers.
The woman noticed a white Ford sedan with a blue light flashing on the top of the car behind her.
Believing it was a police vehicle, the woman pulled over to the side of the road, as did the unmarked vehicle.
The driver of the Ford approached the woman’s car and spoke to her, telling her he was a detective, before producing what appeared to be an alcolizer and requesting she provide a roadside breath test.
Police have been told the man then demanded the woman’s driver’s licence and said he would make inquiries, as the woman waited in the car.
Believing it was a police vehicle, the woman pulled over to the side of the road, as did the unmarked vehicle.
The driver of the Ford approached the woman’s car and spoke to her, telling her he was a detective, before producing what appeared to be an alcolizer and requesting she provide a roadside breath test.
Police have been told the man then demanded the woman’s driver’s licence and said he would make inquiries, as the woman waited in the car.
He then told the woman her licence was disqualified and to drive directly to her home.
The man returned to his car, which had one female passenger, and drove from the scene, taking the woman’s licence.
The woman drove to her home and alerted police, believing the incident was suspicious. Officers attached to Bankstown Local Area Command commenced investigating the incident.
As police continue their inquiries into the incidents, which are believed to be linked, they would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist them.
He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 175cm tall, aged in his 30s and with short brown hair. He was seen wearing dark pants and either a blue and white shirt or a grey business shirt.
